What the Index is, and what it is not.

Where does the data come from?

Official regulatory registries in five regions: US FDA establishment registration and listing, Health Canada licence files, EUDAMED economic operators, the UK MHRA registration database, ANVISA in Brazil, COFEPRIS in Mexico, the Israel Ministry of Health, Australia's TGA, Singapore's HSA, SFDA in Saudi Arabia, NHRA in Bahrain, the Oman MOH register, the UAE commercial agencies register, SAHPRA in South Africa and national device regulators across Africa. Tender awards (NUPCO in Saudi Arabia, Monaqasat in Qatar, ARMP in Cameroon) and Uganda's procurement contracts add companies too; they are labelled as procurement records and never counted as registries. Some profiles add segments and principals read from the company's own website, labelled company website. We use official bulk downloads, documented APIs and public register pages, within each source's terms, and nothing comes from a private source. The Index is rebuilt monthly, so a profile can lag its source by up to a month. Every profile shows the registry it came from and the date we last saw it there.

What does a count mean?

The headline number for each market is its independent distributors: companies licensed there as importer, distributor, wholesaler, authorised representative or sponsor that do not manufacture themselves and are not a manufacturer's own sales company. The second number counts every licensed establishment, manufacturers included. Your home market is left out. A company listed in two registries is merged into one entry only when the normalised name and the country both match.

Does Bastion Hale vouch for anyone?

No. The Index shows registry data as the registries publish it, and a listing means only that an establishment is licensed or registered there. Size is a score built from products listed, registrations held, roles and principals, not a judgement of quality. If an entry about your company is wrong, claim it and correct it.

If the registries are public, why pay for the report?

The registries tell you who holds a licence. The report tells you which ten markets to enter with your device, and which distributors there can actually sell it, checked and ranked, with a call to walk you through it. See a sample report.

Is there personal data in the Index?

The Index works at company level: it lists companies from public registries, not contact people. A few sole traders are registered under their own name, as the registry publishes it. Free, no sign-up: every name shows without an email. Email is optional, for Market Watch or a CSV. We email you only what you asked for, and Market Watch only if you sign up or tick its box. One click unsubscribes.

Which segments are covered?

All thirteen segments, from orthopaedics to IVD. The registries hold every segment, so the Index does too.

Can I get the full list?

Yes. Every country page has a free CSV of its licensed establishments, independent distributors first. For your own device, the Next 10 Markets report (€490) ranks the 10 markets that fit you best, with up to ten independent distributors in each, ranked by fit, and a 20-minute call to walk you through it.

How do I claim or correct my company's entry?

Find your company on the claim page, open its profile and fill in the claim form there. We reply by email within one working day to confirm it. Claiming is free, and no one can pay to be listed or ranked. Once confirmed you can correct the record, add your segments and principals, list the lines you want to carry, and put the Index badge on your website.
