What the Index is, and what it is not.

Where does the data come from?

Public regulatory registries in five regions: US FDA establishment registration and listing, Health Canada licence files, EUDAMED economic operators, the UK MHRA registration database, ANVISA in Brazil, COFEPRIS in Mexico, the Israel Ministry of Health, Australia's TGA, Singapore's HSA, SFDA in Saudi Arabia, NHRA in Bahrain and the Oman MOH register, plus NUPCO tender awards in Saudi Arabia. Some profiles add segments and principals read from the company's own website, labelled company website. We use official bulk downloads, documented APIs and public register pages, within each source's terms, and nothing comes from a private source. The Index is rebuilt monthly, so a profile can lag its source by up to a month. Every profile shows the registry it came from and the date we last saw it there.

What does a count mean?

The headline number for each market is its independent distributors: companies licensed there as importer, distributor, wholesaler, authorised representative or sponsor that do not manufacture themselves and are not a manufacturer's own sales company. The second number counts every licensed establishment, manufacturers included. Your home market is left out. A company listed in two registries is merged into one entry only when the normalised name and the country both match.

Does Bastion Hale vouch for anyone?

No. The Index shows registry data as the registries publish it, and a listing means only that an establishment is licensed or registered there. Size is a score built from products listed, registrations held, roles and principals, not a judgement of quality. If an entry about your company is wrong, claim it and correct it.

If the registries are public, why pay for the report?

The registries tell you who holds a licence. The report tells you which ten markets to enter with your device, and which distributors there can actually sell it, checked and ranked, with a call to walk you through it. See a sample report.

Is there personal data?

No. The Index works at company level and never collects named individuals, even when a registry shows them. Opening a profile needs a work email, and each email can open three profiles, counted in your browser. We may email you about the Index and the report, and you can unsubscribe with one click.

Which segments are covered?

All thirteen segments, from orthopaedics to IVD, including imaging and radiology. The registries hold every segment, so the Index does too.

Can I get the full list?

Five markets have a free CSV sample of their top 200 establishments, linked from their market pages: the United States, Canada, Germany, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. For your own device, the Next 10 Markets report (€490) ranks ten markets and names up to ten licensed distributors in each, ranked by fit, with a 20-minute call to walk you through it.

How do I claim or correct my company's entry?

Find your company in the Index, open its profile and press "Claim this profile". We reply by email to confirm it. Claiming is free. Once confirmed you can correct the record, add your segments and principals, list the lines you want to carry, and put the Index badge on your website.
